Yes. Research supports teletherapy as an effective service delivery model for speech-language therapy when provided by a licensed clinician and when the child is able to attend and engage in sessions. Virtual therapy allows for individualized, focused intervention while providing families flexibility and consistency.

The Virtual Speech Room serves school-aged children. Children must be able to attend and actively participate in virtual sessions with minimal support.

Services focus on:

  • Articulation (speech sound production)
  • Expressive language
  • Receptive language
  • Fluency (stuttering)
  • Pragmatic (social) language skills

Therapy is individualized based on each child's needs and goals.

Virtual speech therapy is a good fit for children who:

  • Can attend to a screen-based session
  • Can follow directions and engage with visual and verbal cues
  • Are motivated to participate in structured activities

If you're unsure whether virtual therapy is appropriate for your child, this can be discussed during an initial consultation.

Parent involvement varies based on the child's age and needs. Some children work independently, while others benefit from occasional parent support. Parent collaboration and communication are always part of the therapy process.

Session length and frequency are determined individually based on clinical recommendations and the child's needs. These details are discussed during the intake process.

The Virtual Speech Room is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly. Families may choose to submit claims to their insurance provider for possible out-of-network reimbursement. A superbill can be provided upon request.

Megan Hardy, MS, CCC-SLP, is currently licensed to provide teletherapy services in Maryland, Virginia, Nebraska, Texas, Vermont, and Ohio. Licensure is actively in progress in Delaware, Washington, DC, and Pennsylvania. Services are provided only in states where licensure is held.

Progress is monitored regularly through data collection, clinical observation, and ongoing communication with families. Parents receive updates and recommendations to support carryover of skills outside of therapy sessions.

No. The Virtual Speech Room is an independent private practice and is not affiliated with any school or school district.

Getting started begins with an initial consultation to discuss your child's needs and determine whether services are a good fit. From there, an individualized therapy plan is developed based on clinical recommendations.
